Position Description:

Provides direct patient care as a provider in the KURE SMART Pain Practice

Education and/or Experience:

• Graduate Degree as a Physician’s Assistant
• Current State License
• Current Controlled Dangerous Substances Permit
• Current DEA License
• Current BLS License

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

The PA may be assigned duties in the following areas, or other duties as assigned.

• Obtain medical history to include but not exclusive of current complaint, past medical history, family medical history, social history, medications, allergies, compliance with previous treatments and care plan, and determine which diagnostic and therapeutic procedures have been done. The PA-C should also be able to measure/record physiologic and growth indices, as well as apply health promotion principles and techniques.
• Provides acute and chronic patient care including physical exams, monitoring therapies, administering injections, minor office surgical procedures, and prescribing medications.
• Triage patient calls and take appropriate action
• Triage after hours patient calls and take appropriate action as assigned
• Respond to medical emergencies by taking appropriate action
• Practice in a manner that effectively maintains patient confidentiality.
• Review labs, diagnostic studies, and physical therapy progress notes.
• Educates patients and provides continuity of care.
• Accurately and completely record all pertinent information in the patient’s medical record.
• Prepare dictations of patient notes for all patients seen within 24 hours of patient encounter.
• Participates in continuing medical education.
• Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted performance-improvement program. Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures
• Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices.
• Follows established policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to Practice Administrator.
• Follows instructions; responds to management direction; accepts personal responsibility for actions, performance and results; keeps commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with alternate plan
• Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests; supports everyone’s efforts to succeed.
• Independently works though situational issues and uses problem solving skills to achieve desired outcome.
• Must be personable and friendly with the ability to represent the facility in a professional manner at all times.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk or sit for an extended period of time.
• Ability to help transfer patients.
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
• Communication skills using spoken word.
• Ability to see within normal parameters.
• Ability to hear within normal ranges.
