As a principle faculty position, the Academic Coordinator is instrumental in the day-to-day operations of the Physician Assistant Program and the education of its students.

Arcadia’s College of Health Sciences (CHS) houses the University’s Community and Global Public Health Program, Genetic Counseling, Health Education, Medical Science (Physician Assistant Studies), and Physical Therapy programs. Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

Evaluate, revise, and coordinate didactic course curriculum
Instruct didactic and clinical year students
Develop and evaluate didactic year student assessments
Develop, maintain, and mentor adjunct instructors
Participate in committees at the department and university levels
Mentor and advise physician assistant students
Participate in the evaluation of the overall effectiveness of the Program in meeting its mission.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
Adept interpersonal and communication skills Skillful problem solving capabilities
An ability to work effectively in a team environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree is required; doctorate degree or willingness to pursue a doctorate degree is preferred
At least three years of clinical experience

Position Description:

Provides direct patient care as a provider in the KURE SMART Pain Practice

Education and/or Experience:

• Graduate Degree as a Physician’s Assistant
• Current State License
• Current Controlled Dangerous Substances Permit
• Current DEA License
• Current BLS License

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

The PA may be assigned duties in the following areas, or other duties as assigned.

• Obtain medical history to include but not exclusive of current complaint, past medical history, family medical history, social history, medications, allergies, compliance with previous treatments and care plan, and determine which diagnostic and therapeutic procedures have been done. The PA-C should also be able to measure/record physiologic and growth indices, as well as apply health promotion principles and techniques.
• Provides acute and chronic patient care including physical exams, monitoring therapies, administering injections, minor office surgical procedures, and prescribing medications.
• Triage patient calls and take appropriate action
• Triage after hours patient calls and take appropriate action as assigned
• Respond to medical emergencies by taking appropriate action
• Practice in a manner that effectively maintains patient confidentiality.
• Review labs, diagnostic studies, and physical therapy progress notes.
• Educates patients and provides continuity of care.
• Accurately and completely record all pertinent information in the patient’s medical record.
• Prepare dictations of patient notes for all patients seen within 24 hours of patient encounter.
• Participates in continuing medical education.
• Contributes to the progress and development of the organization’s adopted performance-improvement program. Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures
• Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices.
• Follows established policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to Practice Administrator.
• Follows instructions; responds to management direction; accepts personal responsibility for actions, performance and results; keeps commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with alternate plan
• Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests; supports everyone’s efforts to succeed.
• Independently works though situational issues and uses problem solving skills to achieve desired outcome.
• Must be personable and friendly with the ability to represent the facility in a professional manner at all times.
