A TREMENDOUS Win on Hospice!

See below from the AAPA regarding Senator Carper. DAPA has sent a letter of thanks regarding his support of PAs.

Dear Delaware PAs,

We have achieved a tremendous victory on hospice. Early this morning, Congress passed a budget agreement that included, among many other things, a section that changed federal law to allow PAs to manage and provide hospice care to their patients. This is a HUGE win for PAs, especially those in rural states, and it is due in no small part to the work you all have put in over the years, reaching out to your legislators, particularly Sen. Carper, and telling him your stories about hospice patients, and building that strong relationship with him that enabled him to understand the problem and help us find a solution. Thank you.

Will you please reach out to his office and thank him for his advocacy on behalf of PAs? You can thank him for introducing the Medicare Patient Access to Hospice Act, S. 2214, language from which was ultimately in the budget agreement signed into law today. Medicare beneficiaries throughout the nation, especially those living in rural and other medically underserved communities where PAs may be the sole healthcare professional, will benefit from this important legislation, as patients will no longer have to choose between continuity of care and hospice.
